Should You Leave Your Cat Home Alone?
Some people think that leaving their cat(s) to fend for themselves for 2 or 3 days while they go away is no big deal, after all, cats are independent and don't require much care. I disagree with this practice and encourage you to read this article. Too many things could happen during that time which could result in injury or even death. Not to mention that cats have emotions just like us. They can even have separation anxiety and get depressed! I've had 2 cat clients this happened to. Broke my heart! One stopped eating, luckily her people were only gone 4 days. The other one was depressed because the other part of his pack wasn't there, all the dogs. This cat knew me very well but was very sad the dogs weren't there like they always were when I stayed over. It took 3 days for this kitty to relax and stop sitting by the door waiting for the others to come thru the doggy door.
There are a ton of articles about this subject but this one is short and to the point.

Harness vs Collar for Dog Walking
I strongly believe in walking dogs using a harness. Clipping the lead to a dogs collar who is a puller can cause severe injury. If I am walking a dog who isn't a puller or a prey driven dog (one who will bolt when he/she sees a squirrel or rabbit or bird, etc) I will consider attaching the lead to the collar. Below is a link to a good article on this subject. Please take a moment to read and learn more about harness vs collar:
Local author and dog trainer, Kerry Claire wrote a beautiful story about her beloved pup, Vera. I highly recommend reading this book. Not only is Finding Vera a lovely, entertaining read, it is educational as well.
How Do You Know When "It is Time"
One of the hardest decisions as a pet guardian is deciding when it is time to your beloved pet go and assist them in crossing the Rainbow Bridge. There is a lot of good information and links on Life Cycle Pet Cremations' website and one of I want to share here: How Do I Know When It Is Time? This article is from The Ohio State University, Veterinary Medical Center.
